Tips and Ideas

As time goes by, there should be more and more ideas to pick up here. Just allow some time for these pages to grow and do not hesitate to contribute to this site yourself by sending your best tips, lesson plans, activities or else!

Warning: Some people keep posting junk through this form. If you come across some nasty content, be sure it will be removed as soon as possible since I clean the database every day. However, I'm a regular teacher and I might be too busy to do it within hours. In any case, don't hesitate to send me an email in order to help me protect these pages from obscene intrusions.

Title of Tip: The Popsy revision game

Type of Tip: Structure revision

Grade Level(s): 6e 5e

Subject(s) involved: English

Materials required: small teddy bear

Procedure: In order to have students revise lessons, short dialogue or else, ask them to stand up in a circle facing each other. The first student to begin the game says the first sentence of the short dialogue to be revised then throws the teddy bear to another student. The second student says the second sentence of the dialogue aloud then throws the teddy bear to a third student who follows the same procedure. The game then goes on and on until the end of the dialogue. This tip works very well with young students.

Title of Tip: Picture Description Game

Type of Tip: Activité de communication

Grade Level(s): all

Subject(s) involved: English

Title of Tip: homework correction

Type of Tip: suggestion

Grade Level(s): all

Subject(s) involved: english

Materials required: transparency film

Procedure: When I give students their homework, I choose 4 or 5 students to whom I give a transparency film on which they will have to do the homework (they also have to do it on their copybooks)When I correct the homework, I choose one student who comes to the OHP and corrects the homework. If students find a mistake, they raise their hands, say "I don't agree" and correct. This peer-teaching tip allows students to explain what they wrote and, as Piaget said "la reformulation facilite l'appropriation".
