Karpeles Manuscript Library  This is a Museum holding the largest private collection of original manuscripts and documents in the world: the Declaration of Independence, the Bill of Rights, the Thanksgiving Declaration by G. Washington, the Theory of relativity by Einstein and so on. 

50 States and Capitals. An excellent site about the USA with lots of extremely well-documented topical studies: biographies, history, constitution, geography, flags, birds and trees, editorial cartoons, live web cams...

American Government. Topics for the suggested activities  (upper-intermediate to advanced students): Foundation of American Government, Political Party Platform, Congress in Action, the Presidents' Inaugural Addresses, Supreme Court Decisions, Constitutions of the World, Local Government services.

A Biography of America: History Resources for teachers and students. Also contains links to sites with primary and secondary source materials related to the topics of this program and Flash-enabled interactive maps. An excellent site.

United States of America: National Anthem, Flags, Maps and People, Economy, Geography, Government, Newspapers, Museums and Institutions, City Guides, Weather... Many links. Related quizzes could stand for an interesting background to practise written comprehension .

History of Inventions. With a time line and links. This site also offers  useful resources for the teacher: How to create a Web page, How to integrate the Internet into your teaching practice and many more tips.

 Inventors and Inventions for kids. In the search box, type in "inventors" ® you'll find lots of inventions which could be useful to build sentences in the passive voice Þ Facts and Myths: from Aspirin to Zippers; click "Invention Trivia Quiz".

Planet-Britain. A wealth of information about GB for young people: music, media, art...

British Icons, Symbols and Institutions There are certain icons and institutions which even the British themselves consider as "British." Here is just a selection of those things which spring to mind whenever one hears the word "British." Traditions UK A selection of British holidays, festivals and customs. Besides the origins and traditions of each date on the calendar, you'll find recipes and clipart for each occasion. 

 

Cliparts

Cliparts. More than one million cliparts but you have to get a membership. In the Clipart Center, click on View all categories or type in key words in the search box.

World of Searching. If you're looking for a picture, a sound, a movie... A KidsClick! page. Many cliparts available + lots of links to other clipart sites.

Picture vocabulary. Use this site to teach vocabulary through pictures that you can use as flashcards: verbs, adjectives, food, sports.

Smithsonian Institution Photos Black and white or colour photographs are available in a wide variety of subjects: people, places, monuments, science, nature and more. If you use the search tool, though, the documents are sometimes hard to find.
